Sophie graduated from the University of Lincoln with a BA (Hons) in Dance. Upon graduating Sophie has made strong connections and relationships with various arts organisations and independent theatre makers across the midlands. Sophie has produced on large and small scale festivals with both artists and international artists across all art forms including Birmingham International Dance Festival, Departure Lounge, Check In and U.Dance collaborating with a variety of arts organisations including, Dance4, DanceXchange, In Good Company and One Dance UK & Second Hand Dance. 


Currently Sophie is producing with Second Hand Dance, a disabled led dance company. Sophie is providing producing support for the the team on their upcoming projects. Including Getting Dressed Films a commission made for broadcast digital dance for young audiences and Hearing Dances an experiment in audio description and foley made for visually impaired and non-disabled children ages 5-8. 

Most recently Sophie was an Assistant Producer for In Good Company, the flagship professional, creative and business development programme for theatre makers and companies in the Midlands. Sophie has extensive experience in artist development & supporting emerging theatre makers/companies.

Sophie was also Project Officer for Derby Theatre's Big House programme. The Big House is a £5 million tailored support programme for the Creative and Digital Industries (CDI) sector in Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, Derby and Derbyshire. The programme is part-funded by a £2.5 million contribution from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), via the D2N2 Local Enterprise Partnership’s ESIF allocation. Sophie is responsible for budget management, relationship building between artists and partners and programmes and produces the fortnightly ERDF workshops/events.

Sophie is always keen to meet independent artists, producers and theatre makers to learn about their practice and interests.  Sophie enjoys attending arts industry conferences and training events to keep developing her knowledge. Being aware of the ever changing conversations and challenges that the arts industry and in particular independent artists face in today's society is vital to know. This helps us as producers know what change we need to advocate for and how we can support the indie sector and keep placing artists at the forefront of our decisions.

Sophie strives to continue her professional development within the sector and over the years has been successful in securing places in a variety of training schemes/courses. During 2016-2018 Sophie was the One Dance UK Ambassador for the East Midlands, this involved advocating for the organisation on a regional and national level, assisting on regional U.Dance events and delivering key notes & speeches at national events on behalf of One Dance UK. Sophie secured a place at Dance East Rural Retreat 2019, an intensive 4 day residential course at Dance East, Ipswich. This course is aimed at inspiring dance leaders to develop their leadership skills and what they can offer the industry. Sophie was successful in gaining a place within the 'Producing 102' 2020 cohort  delivered by OPUS. An intensive training course for womxn creatives in the region to continue to develop their skills in producing and event management within the arts and cultural sectors. 

Most recently Sophie was invited to be a keynote speaker on a panel at R.I.S.E, a two day online event produced by East London Dance, One Dance UK & China Plate.  This consisted of various sessions to support early career dance artists and students. Speaking about her journey into the industry, advice for people just beginning their career, what the role as a producer consists of, sophies responsibilities and her experience. The second part of the session was a Q&A, where I interacted with the students and helped them with questions and queries that they had.
